My Bench Players vs. Free Agents

Postby SullivanNJD » Sun Aug 14, 2011 11:25 pm

Here is my team in a 14 team PPR (.5 per reception) league. Very deep rosters as you can see below. My question is regarding my bottom three bench players compared to who is available in free agency.

QB- Matt Ryan (2)
QB- Kevin Kolb (3)
RB- Ray Rice (1)
RB- Felix Jones (4)
RB- Beanie Wells (7)
WR- Percy Harvin (5)
WR- Mario Manningham (6)
WR- Robert Meachem (9)
WR- Andre Roberts (10)
TE- Brandon Pettigrew (7)
TE- Dennis Pita (14)
K- Robbie Gould (18)
DEF- Chicago Bears (18)

BN- Rashad Jennings (12)
BN- Greg Little (13)
BN- Jason Avant (16)
BN- Brandon LaFell (15)
BN- Toby Gerhart (17)

Notable Free Agents available: Kendall Hunter, Ben Tate, Danario Alexander, Bernard Scott, Brandon Jackson, Jacob Tamme

I'd rather have Alexander than LaFell for sure. As for Gerhart, I think he and Hunter are pretty close. I don't think the other guys are locks to be starters if their lead back is hurt, and I think between Gerhard ant Hunter you have to decide if you're trying to hit a HR with a guy who could take over a pretty prime job with an injury (Gerhart) or a guy who will likely score more points in a season where his starter who's blocking him doesn't go down for an extended period of time (Hunter). I'd say you take the potential production in Hunter, but it's awfully close depending on your depth after Rice/Felix ...

Keep an eye on the TE situation in Baltimore - Ed Dickson could beat out Pitta for the starting job. ;-D

I think rookie Jamie Harper will surpass him on the depth chart for the #2 spot in TEN.
