Draft Strategy help/opinion

Postby Thor » Tue Aug 16, 2011 9:06 am

I am playing this year in a league that has 14 teams. Non PPR.

Does the 14 teams change my strategy any. Do I need to get a solid QB with an earlier pick (maybe 4th, 5th, or 6th round) start 2 RB, 3 WR 1 TE, no flex.

I would still target the same tier of QBs, but they may start to go faster and you would need to pick one earlier than a 10 or 12 team league - just keep an eye on when your tier is approaching and be ready

In a 10 team league I am completely confident in being the last owner to draft a QB. This is even true sometimes in 12 team leagues. I still think you should wait on your quarterback, but I wouldn't be the last owner to draft a QB. I would try to land someone in the Ben Roethlisberger, Matt Schaub, Matt Ryan, Eli Manning tier. If you miss out on those, try to couple a pair a high upside quarterback (Matt Stafford) with a consistent albeit boring producer (Ryan Fitzpatrick-esque)
