Strategy for last pick in a ten person league

Postby mtt0216 » Thu Aug 18, 2011 11:06 am

My league starts 1 qb 2 rb 3 wr 1 te def k

Scoring is somewhat geared towards qbs, but I don't thnk it will impact the draft that mch this year.

My options are to go rb rb, rb wr, or wr wr. Now, I definitely don't want to go rb rb, since I need 3 wr, and in the last few years finding 3 wr has always been the hardest thing to do.

I'm leaning torwards going after 2 wrs. If a. Johnson dropped I'd go Johnson, White. If he's gone I'd go White, Fitzgerald or maybe White, Jennings.

In the rounds 3-6 I'd go after all rbs unless certain players dropped. I'd target d. Williams, Bradshaw, and Moreno in the 3 rd, and just get the best available in rounds 5-6.

I want to get freeman in round 7, but may play it safe and grab him in the 6th.

After that I'd fill in the other positions and my bench.

What do you think of my plan, and how would you draft in this league with the last pick.

Welcome to the Cafe. Hope you stick around ;-D

As for your situation, I would shoot for a value pick at RB like a McCoy/Mendenhall. Those types are still good RB1's and production-wise will be hard to replace with your 3rd and 4th round picks. If anyone goes If Vick, Rodgers, AJ etc in the first round you could see yourself ending up with one of those RBs and a Calvin/Roddy. A great start to your overall depth.

Of course, if it goes RB all the way down and you aren't all that excited about who is available at that point, do as you suggested above and go with two elite WRs and fill up on RB afterwards.

Whatever you do...don't waste those early bookend picks on a QB. The difference between Rodgers and a Ryan/Schaub is only about 40 points...and you can wait until the 7th to get either one.

Good luck ;-D

Drafting McCoy or mendnhalll and an elite wr is something I'm still considering, but I'm not sold on it yet.
Here's how I think my draft will go based on the people picking, and scoring.

1-AP
2-Vick ( this is because of scoring and because were from the phily area)
3-foster
4-Rodgers( big Rodgers fan here)
5- c. Johnson
6- Charles
7. Rice
8- Mjd
9- a. johnson
10- ??????

So I could go after McCoy and Mendenhall, or have my pick at the elite WRs.....
