12 Team (non ppr) 6 points all TDs

Postby jackarmani » Mon Aug 22, 2011 7:29 am

Had my draft yesterday, I had the 5th overall pick. Rules are 6 points all TDs, start 1qb,2rb,2wr,1te,1k,1dst,6bench. Normal yardage rules apply (non-ppr) (rb/wr also get return yard/tds)

qb: Michael Vick
rb: Rashard Mendenhall, Ahmad Bradshaw, Beanie Wells, Cedric Benson, Jamie Harper
wr: Mike Wallace, Percy Harvin, Steve Johnson, Lee Evans, Michael Crabtree
te: Brandon Pettigrew
k: Josh Brown
dst: Chargers

I realise I have no depth at qb/te and could drop jamie harper as soon as chris johnson comes back (if i play him at all) but there really isn't any qbs left (most teams in my league picked up 3) so i went for depth (trade bait) at other positions instead.

Possible qbs in FA are: Jason Campbell, Cam Newton, Tavaris Jackson, Colt Mccoy, Hasselbeck
if i was to pick up a TE i would go for Lance Kendricks (rams). but who would i drop other than harper?

At the moment i'm exploring the trade market to upgrade at te using combinations of steve johnson/lee evans with petigrew and a rb. But don't reckon anyone will bite

This team is solid.

The biggest concern when it comes to drafting Vick (besides injury) is the fact that reaching for a QB early hurts you at WR and RB. You managed to get two solid backs and a top wide out all while landing Vick decently early.

As far as TE depth, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Although Pettigrew isn't a top option, he will be serviceable. Just be quick to the waiver wire when it comes to TEs. If a tight end breaks out as a red zone options like Rob Gronkowski or Marcedes Lewis last year, grab him. If a top tight end gets hurt and a decently skilled backup gets to step into the role, like Dallas Clark and Jacob Tamme last year, make sure he's yours,

But you are a Vick owner, so having a decent backup QB should be a priority. I think you should be shopping some of your WR depth for a solid quarterback instead of a tight end.

Good luck in 2011 ;-D
