VICK AT #4 OVERALL? CRAZY OR PLAUSIBLE?

Postby Alkaholik » Tue Aug 23, 2011 10:53 pm

10 Team H2H Redraft League

1 point per 10 yards rushing
1 point per 50 yards passing
1 point per reception
6 points per passing td
6 points per rushing td

I have the #4 spot in a competitive redraft league and was looking at Ray Rice, CJ2k in my spot, but i started thinking, with 1 point per 10 yards rushing and 6 points per passing or rushing QB could Vick seriously be worth gambling on at #4 overall? am i really crazy or on to something here?

now he wont play all 16, to me having 14 games from him and then drafting a #2 qb in the 10th or so as backup could work out.

My league is special where QB's always appear in the top 5 in total fantasy points each year, but none get drafted first round with the exception of aaron rodgers last year. We just changed our stats to 1 point per 10 yards rushing 2 years ago which makes vick get an extra 4-10 points a game for rushing yards.

Here's the top 5 total fantasy players in my league last year:

2010:
1. Arian Foster - RB
2. Tom Brady - QB
3. Michael Vick - QB (not full season stats)
4. Aaron Rodgers - QB
5. Peyton Hillis - RB

What are your thoughts? take a stab in the dark with VICK #4 overall(1 point per 10 rishing yards) and take a earlier flyer on a #2 backup qb if vick gets hurt or go with Ray Rice since its a PPR league?

I won't be the guy that takes Vick in the first round.

The first round is where my stud RB needs to be grabbed if I have a 1-6 pick. I would consider going elite WR if I had 7-12, knowing that I can grab my RB early next round.

The position is too deep IMO, and the overall point differentials between QB1 and QB8 aren't great enough to steer me away from going RB/WR in the first.

Negative on Vick at #4. In ppr, you could get an RB like Rice, Charles, or McCoy to build your team around. Just my 2 cents.

Agreed, i just drafted in a league where 4 QB's went in the first round and i loaded up because of it.

I'm not as high on VIck as others, i think teams will have a better idea what to expect this year and while he will still be solid, there is not as big of a difference between QB1 and QB8

that is a good point...1 point per reception benefits the RB's again.

So what i am looking at is:

1. Jamaal Charles
2: Ray Rice

do either of you think Rice should be ahead of Charles in a PPR? at #4?

I have Rice ranked #1 in all formats currently.

AD... yes, has performed with poor QB'ing but this is the worst o-line he has ever ran behind. CJ424 is holding out. Foster only has a year under his belt and Charles has a new OC that is pass happy.

also, no way would I draft a QB that early. I do believe that Vick will be the #1 QB at years end but not by enough to lose out on a top tier RB.
