Colts sign QB Collins/Orlovsky/?

I find it interesting that Irsay said Peyton won't play this year, but they aren't putting him on IR so he can practice. There is only one reason to do that...you have no hope you'll make the playoffs and this way Peyton can finish the season practicing with the team to get ready for next year.

I think it just has to do with Manning wanting to contribute (and them wanting/needing him there) than any grand plan to give up on the season. He was in the coaches' booth this past weekend. Keep in mind that he can't practice with the team on IR. Giving up one roster spot to let Manning return on his own schedule seems more than worth it to me.
