Building around a QB in PPR? WHIR

Postby JC.89 » Sun Aug 28, 2011 6:22 pm

Would you take a QB with your first or second pick in a PPR draft, and if you've done it in the past and had success, what strategy did you use to draft the rest of your team?

No, I would not. There is just no need to draft a QB that early in any league let alone a PPR league where points are increased for the other positions.

I have seen it before, usually with minimal success. Granted it is usually after a Manning, Brady or Vick lights the world on fire and people start to think they must get an elite QB.

I'm in a PPR league and Vick fell to me at 17. I say if you get a top tier QB that falls then you jump all over it, if not then hold off until later in the draft. I've found a few sweet spots where I've taken Romo in the 60-70's and then Cutler,Bradford, Stafford in the low 100's.

It's blunt but helpful as well. There are 2 distinct camps on the QB controversy. There are those of us who feel strongly that drafting a QB early seriously hinders a quest for a championship. The other side...well, I don't understand the other side! :-b

There have been articles, debates... even an entire league was built one year to view the results first hand. I am guessing comets is just pretty adament that a QB should not be drafted early.
