I Think I'm Winning On This... WHIR

Postby Balcatim » Sun Aug 28, 2011 10:32 pm

Here's my team:
QB: Matt Ryan, Josh Freeman
RB: Jamaal Charles, Steven Jackson, Cedric Benson, Shonn Green, Mike Tolbert, Thomas Jones
WR: Roddy White, Dwayne Bowe, Lee Evans, Sidney Rice, Robert Meachem
TE: Dallas Clark
DE: Patriots
K: David Akres

And here's his:
QB: Phillip Rivers, Kevin Kolb, Colt McCoy
RB: LeSean McCoy, BJGE, Mark Ingram, Tim Hightower, Brandon Jacobs
WR: Vincent Jackson, Chad Ochocinco, Jordy Nelson, James Jones
TE: Rob Gronkowski, Tony Gonzalez
DE: Steelers
K: Nate Kaeding

10 Team League (QB/2 RB/FLEX/2 WR/TE/K/D), standard ESPN scoring

I was offered this:
Send:
Jamaal Charles & Matt Ryan

Get:
Phillip Rivers & LeSean McCoy

I have to do this right? I'm gaining way more at QB than I lose at RB and I still have Freeman too. It does make me a little thinner at RB but it boils down to sending an elite RB and an expendable so-so QB for an elite QB and a semi-elite RB.

Please help and leave a link if you need help.

I agree for the same reason you listed. I see Charles and McCoy as pretty close to even, but Rivers is much better than Ryan.

It depends... How high are you on Charles? In many circles he's a top 5 pick and I've seen him even shown as top 3. If you value as top 3 then hell no to the trade! If you're more neutral on him than you jump all over it as you're significantly upgrading at QB. I'm getting a bit nervous on the Philly Offense as we've seen their O-line has been terrible. I'm not sure how this will materialize in the regular season or how the lack of pass protection will impact McCoy. He's not a traditional North/South runner to it's a tad difficult.

I'd probably lean toward making the trade given your RB depth.

I actually spent the 3rd overall draft pick on Charles (over CJ28) so maybe my drafting was a little flawed but that's neither here nor there. I consider him the 3rd best RB this year behind Peterson and Foster. However, I think the gap between Rivers and Ryan is bigger than the gap between Charles and McCoy and I don't really care about losing Ryan so it sort of feels like trading Charles for Rivers and McCoy.

I see what you're saying about the Eagles O-Line but being an Eagle fan I have to hope and believe that they'll be OK and McCoy will have a nice year.

Seems like a pretty even trade. I have researched the O-lines and have the Eagles at 13th and the Chiefs at 25th. Now, that DOES NOT take into consider any preseason game performances. I would do the trade.

So far everyone is confirming my thoughts on the matter.

On a related note, would you do SJax for Megatron straight up?

Do that quickly. Its pretty much in your favor all the way. I mean I do like charles over mccoy, but ryan to rivers is a huge difference

This trade is pretty close. I'm not sure I would pull the trigger though, cause I'm pretty high on Ryan. Dirty birds gave away a few picks to move up to get Julio Jones in the draft, so it looks like they have one of the best receiving tandems in the NFL. Matty Ice has progressed nicely and is entering his 4th year as a pro. Falcons are looking to pass more this year. This year has "Matt Ryan Breakout" written all over it. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he ends as a top 5 qb.

as far as SJax for Megatron, yeah I would do that one fast. and then look for a trade to turn bowe and maybe another reserve into a new RB2

I'm pretty sure I could make the following 3 trades:

Send:
Matt Ryan
Jamaal Charles

Get:
Phillip Rivers
LeSean McCoy

Send:
Steven Jackson

Get:
Megatron

Send:
Dwayne Bowe
Shonn Green

Get:
Peyton Hillis
Percy Harvin

That leaves me with:
Rivers
McCoy
Hillis
Benson
Roddy
Megatron
Clark

I feel like that's definitely better than what I have now if they all go through.
