Draft Chris Johnson or pass?

Postby Dukieox » Tue Aug 30, 2011 9:07 am

I'm in a quandary in my 10 team non-PPR keeper league.

Here's who will be available when I make my pick tonight. Do I roll the dice with CJ or choose somebody with less upside but safer? WHIR. Thanks guys.

I guess a lot depends on your keeper rules, how long you can keep them, what you lose for keeping them. With the keeper / dynasty leagues you have to look at the age of the player and look for more than just this season. I would probably take him over the other players available and then you need to do a few other things. First make sure you get Ringer in the draft and then don't depend on having CJ for the first week or two. I'm guessing that he will sign right before the season, but may take a few weeks to get up to speed on there offense and into game shape. Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback.

Regarding the keeper rules, if we keep a 1st rounder we can only keep them for a year. So drafting CJ this year would allow me to keep him again next year as my 1st round pick, but that's it.

My other keepers are Steve Johnson, Mike Williams (TB), and Roethlisberger. All taken in late rounds.

Johnson officially has me spooked. I woudl probably pass as a first rounder as I can easily see him missing 4 games and then be slow in another 4. That is half the season from your first rounder.

Now, you have a little catch in that you can keep him. Only for one year, albeit, but it is a consideration. Still doesn't sway me enough to take him with guys like Mega an Gore available.

I dont know I think I would roll the dice and hope they work things out. I mean seriously, it will cost them more in ticket sales if he DOESNT play than to just pay the guy already. I dont see how you can pass.
