First live draft in a while

Postby m16a » Thu Sep 01, 2011 2:36 pm

Howdy yall. After a good few years of doing slow drafts and other manner of non live drafts, I did a live, 2 min timer draft for the first time in a while. Curious how I did. It's a standard 12 team league, 18 rounds, with me drafting at 9th overall. 1/25 passing, 6pts/TD. 1/10 yards, 6pts/TD for rushing and receiving. We start 1QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1PK, 1D/ST After giving me a rating and breakdown, I'll happily look over your squad if you like.

QB: Bradford, Cassel
RB: McCoy, SJax, Ronnie Brown, Fred Jackson, Willis McGahee, Danny Woodhead
WR: Bowe, Marshall, Harvin, MSW, Mike Williams (SEA), Jerome Simpson
TE: Dallas Clark, Todd Heap
K: Gould
D/ST: NYG

I really like your team. 2 solid starting RBs. Young QB with upside. 2 number 1 WRs in Bowe and Marshall. Depth at WR is a little thin but watch the WW guys always come out of nowhere. Overall I like the team. Is it a PPR? Cause if it is I like it even more. McCoy, Bowe, and Marshall are great in PPR. If not its still a good team.

I'd take that team! I'm a BIG fan of McCoy this year - esp. with another year under his belt in A. Reid's system w/ Vick @ QB... I think he's a top 3 RB this year. (I tried to get him in my draft @ #7, but he was gone already) SJax as a #2 RB is solid, and F. Jackson is reliable bye week fill-in.

Your starting WR's are pretty good, too. Marshall is hot & cold, but if MIA gets a running game, could have a nice year. I don't like Bowe as much this year as some, but he's still a dynamic WR who can put up big numbers.. I just don't like Cassel this year @ QB w/o Weiss there as his OC (the offense has looked bad this preseason). I personally like MSW more than Harvin this year, but both guys could be a decent #3 WR for you.

You can't go wrong with Clark @ TE - and Heap should be a reliable backup for you, too.

I think you got yourself a playoff team. And, if Bradford continues to improve, you could be looking real nice come playoff time.

Good luck!

Help with mine?

If it were a PPR, I woulda had a puddle of drool the size of the Mississippi on my floor during the draft managing to score SJax, McCoy, and Marshall on the same time (3 PPR monsters). It's a non-PPR, but that's ok.

I'm likin this team. QB is the weakest link but man you got some nice RB and WR including quality depth. Your play for 2 RB's at (9) and (16) paid off as you were still able to get a premier WR in Bowe and a nice WR2 in Marshall. Well thought out. Goes to show that waiting on QB can reap some rewards....guys like Bradford, Stafford and Flacco allow for this strategy to pay off.

QB - Bradford is a good gamble IMO, Cassel is an adequate insurance policy

RB - love me some McCoy (but he does lose a little luster in non PPR), SJax is a rock solid RB2 who is capable of RB1 numbers (very curious how he's going to be used in McD-bag's offense). FJax is a bit "blah" but at lesast you know what you're getting - a solid RB3. McGahee is interesting to me, very curious how the backfield touches are going to be divided in Denver this year, strictly goal line or more of a RBBC - TBD I suppose.

WR - I have a bit of a mancrush on Marshall, idk why, but it's there - I think I've owned him on a team every year he's been in the league - last year's meager TD total was an anomoly IMO - unfortuantely, I don't think Bowe comes near to matching last year's 15 visits to the house, he'll be good, but he's not going to score every 4.8 catches (or whatever insane number it was) again. I like Harvin as a 3rd WR who will have all the chances in the world to out preform that position. MSW is a good flier (you a Rams fan by chance?), same comments about Bradford & SJax apply. Other 2 guys are WW material IMO.

TE - Rock solid, Clark should return to his elite self & I see Heap being the 2nd option in the Arizona passing attack.

Very solid overall.

I think your draft went well, few concerns your rb depth is weak other than your top 2. Not a big fan of F jacks but Magehee has a chance at doing something low end Rb2 i feel this year and who knows if moreno gets injured then he will have a HUGE year imo.... Its a risk with Bradford but i think he will put up good numbers this year with Mcdaniels at the helm, i think its a good gamble , Te your solid and i think MArshall we saw his floor last season, i think WR4 is weak as well but i like your corps i think harvin will put up high end wr2 numbers this year, TE your fine as well overall pretty solid team.
Hope this helps! Help with mine? thanks

When your Qb1 is bradford and you rb depth is really bad you might be in for a long season. However Your wr's could be nice and TE with clark look good, but HEAP?........i dont think so. Drop heap a pick up a TE with alot of upside like kendrick or maybe even cook. You could try to bundle Jackson and woodhead for an upgrade at rb.
