He was a stud all year last year and obviously the expectation was that his workload would only increase this year. Which I still believe it will. I haven't been able to actually watch but one KC game this pre-season and the O-Line looked really bad. Anyone have any info on any injuries or reasons this may be the case? You can never read too much into pre-season and I am not trying to do that, but I may be at the point of moving him down in my rankings for my draft on Wed.
KC's schedule this year is undoubtedly tougher than last years.
Cassel went down with some type of rib injury, he appears to be okay but rib injuries are tricky.
Tony Moeaki, their TE is also out for the season with a torn ACL.
Charles fumbled both his GL carries in the final preseason game.
I wouldn't worry too much about the O-Line seeing as how Charles can turn any negative into a positive, but IMO KC just looks like a mess of a team to me. It's true one should not read too much into the preseason but there were just too many red flags here for me not to sour on the players a bit. I'd currently take McCoy at 5 before Charles but that's all he has dropped for me..he's still a stud and a play maker of the CJ4.24 caliber.
To me, Todd Haley is a loose cannon. He left the starters in way too long that last preseason game and nearly got Cassel killed. He screams at everyone like it's High School football, and NFL players like to be treated with some measure of respect. My biggest concern is if they start off slow, this team may just quit on him.
I've was slow to buy in last year, but I'm sold on Charles - he's the real deal. But Haley is so unpredictable in his personnel and playcalling, I don't know for sure Charles sees an increased workload over last year. They moved McCluster to more of a RB role this year - does that help or hurt Charles? This team has the potential to be real good or real bad. I just don't like this situation - it's a huge gamble in the first round. I ranked him low enough where I knew I probably wouldn't get him.
Yeah, I don't understand why Haley got his job, or even less so how he holds one.
Yes I am concerned about Charles poor exhibition season. But I worry over any on my players when they don't impress with every opportunity. Tough schedule, dumb coach, questionable QB, and Thomas Jones still lurking around awaiting any TD vulturing he can get. Doesn't fill me with confidence.
I think, therefore I am. I think fantasy, therefore I am unreal?

I wish more good players would have crappy pre-seasons.
Any reasoning?
Whole point of the topics in this forum are discussion, you are the first to post that you aren't worried and all - and also imply that struggling in the pre-season means nothing. Not really saying I adamantly disagree, but any reasoning or explanation would be fitting.
The biggest worry I have about Charles is that Haley is the only coach in the NFL who actively goes out of his way to limit his best player's effectiveness.
IMO, he's going to have a handful of monster games, his end of the year stats will look impressive, but the inconsistency is going to drive his owners nuts.

Sure. The fumbling (which is all anyone is really concerned with, not the lack of production) has rightly been blamed on the no-contact drills that the team has almost exclusively run in practice.
Rankers (including the Cafe rankers) haven't shown any loss of faith in this guy. The Cafe has him projected at #5 in their recently released season rankings. If the best fantasy football players on the planet think he still merits that high of a draft pick, who am I to argue?
If anything, Jamaal should be moving up in drafts, with injury and other concerns clouding the season for most of the few guys ahead of him.
I understand your concern, though. I'm sure Jack Del Rio would have cut him

If 5.6 avg YPC is your idea of "crappy" I don't think there's any way Charles could live up to your expectations. KC didn't run much in a game where they played from behind. Surprise!
There is a lot of sloppy play around the league this week. I don't think we can put much stock in the first few games. The cream will rise to the top as the season continues.
