Defense Question From A Newbie-NO or Tampa?

I'm not very familiar with defensive strategy here. I have Tampa as my current Defense, but could pick up New Orleans. Doesn't who the team plays have alot to do with it though? N.O. plays Green Bay and Tampa plays Detroit...a little advice would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!!

In most leagues it has a lot to do with who they play against. For instance in my league if your team gives up over a certain amount of points then you lose 3 points. NO will give up more than Tampa will this week for sure. So unless you think NO will pick off Rodgers a couple of times (not likely) and take one to the house, I would stick with Tampa.

Absolutely, the opposing team can influence what defense you decide to play.

Your defense earns points by forcing turnovers (INTs, Fumbles), Sacks, Safeties, Blocked Punts/Kicks, scoring Defensive TDs and in some leagues holding the opposing offense to x amount of points and/or yards. There are other scoring options your league might use but this is just a few.


With that said your looking at a very tough choice...

Green Bay and Detroit are no slouch on offense, both will put up points, if I had my pick I'm going with Tampa Bay. They are the home team and Detroit has a young team that will turn the ball over. I am a Packers fan so take my opinion fwiw.

Thanks guys, this advice really helped...I'd put more faith in Detroit turning the ball over than GB, that could be the GB fan in me talking Think I'll be sticking with Tampa.
