10 Team non-PPR

Postby mcrow » Thu Sep 08, 2011 10:34 am

I had pick #1, but we had our first year keepers. We could keep one player from last year's roster by giving up the draft pick we used on him. I kept Hakeem Nicks for a 10th rounder.
1 Hakeem Nicks, NYG WR
2 Philip Rivers, SD QB
3 Michael Vick, Phi QB
4 Ben Roethlisberger, Pit QB
5 Chris Johnson, Ten RB
6 Darren McFadden, Oak RB
7 Brandon Lloyd, Den WR
8 Arian Foster, Hou RB
9 LeSean McCoy, Phi RB
10 Matt Schaub, Hou QB

The 10 players above were off the board due to keepers.

My team:

QB: Tony Romo (4th round)
RB1: Adrian Peterson (1st round)
Rb2: Deangelo Williams (3rd round)
WR/RB: BemJarvus Green-Ellis (5th round)
WR1: Hakeem Nix (Keeper)
WR2: Mike Wallace (2nd round)
WR/TE: Hines Ward (13th)
TE: Vernon Davis (6th Round)
D/ST: Packers (7th Round)
K: Stephen Gostkowski 15th round)

Bench:
Sidney Rice (8th round)
Mike Tolbert (9th round)
James Jones (11th round)
LaDainian Tomlinson (12th round)
Mike Sims-Walker (14th round)

Scoring system:
25 yards passing= 1 point
passing TD= 4
40 yard + passing TD bonus= 2 additional points
INT= -3

1 point per 10 Rushing/Recieveing yards
Rushing/Recieving TD= 6 points
Fumble lost= -3 (for all players)

Defense= 1 point pers sack, 3 per recoverd fumble or INT
If your defense shutsout the oppenent they get 13 points.
If the give up 2-6 points they get 8 points
If they give up 7-13 they get 4 points.
14-17= 2 points
18-21= 0
22-27= -2
28-34- -4
35-45= -8
46+= -13

So as you can see Defenses score a lot more in our league.

This is a very interesting league with the combination of one keeper and deep starting rosters that ultimately require three starting RBs and WRs. Overall, I think you did a good job of assembling a competitive team, especially at your non-flex positions. I am not a big fan of BGE or Hines Ward as starters, but recognize the pickings must have become slim at that point.

I also saw your note about defenses being more valuable in this league, but I disagree. Defenses are too volatile to spend a 7th round pick. I don't know what was available at this point of the draft, but I would have gone after another RB or WR at this position instead.

No matter what, your team is likely headed for the playoffs. Just make sure to be active on hot pick-ups and you should be able to improve your flex position. Good job drafting a competitive team!

Please take a look at my league when you have a sec. I'm trying to get a cafe consensus on who had the best draft (probably not me).

The last few years in this league the top 4 defenses scored enough points to be in the top 15 overall scorers at the end of the season.

In our league, 4 defenses scored more points than Adrian Peterson lat year. Are they up and down? Yes. However, boom or bust the stud defenses in our league vastly out perform any 7th round WR or RB.
