Drop Daniel Thomas and Pick Up McGahee

Postby TheSmartPlay » Thu Sep 08, 2011 11:26 am

Hello all,,

Thinking of strengthening my bench and is considering dropping Daniel Thomas for Willis McGahee (through waivers) in a .5pt ppr league.

What do you guys think about this - neither will probably be starting soon as I have peterson, mcfadden, felixand tolbert already on the roster but its more of a value pick for trade prospects.

Thanks.

Thomas is the better pick in anything related to a PPR league. McGahee may vulture some short yardage situations, but I don't see anything related to the years he had in Baltimore. Thomas is the starter, even with a shaky preseason the Phins know hes the future and will stick with him.

Best case for McGahee is a Moreno injury, which is very possible, but I'd rather stick my neck out for something that will happen, rather then something that may happen.

You sure about that? Everything im reading says Reggie Bush's value is skyrocketing because of Daniel Thomas' preseason and that Bush would be getting the bulk of the carries. I hope you're right because i have Daniel Thomas.

I would personally drop Thomas for McGahee. Jon Fox loves using 2 rbs if he feels like he has two legit rbs (ie Deangelo Williams and Johnathan Stewart) so i think McGahee could have a nice season. Plus hes probably gonna get a fair amount of goaline carries....

If Bush really gets starter carries he will be hurt in no time. Thomas could be awful but i definitely think you have more upside there and he likely will be starting if not right away by week 6 or 7 . Then again he has a much lower floor than Mcgahee does. Dont like either of them very much!

Moreno will be out in NO TIME. I would hang onto McGahee if i was you.

I think McGahee could be the sleeper of the year for where he is drafted, but not enough to drop Daniel Thomas.

Sorry but if you are even considering doing this you should quit FF.

Yeah cause hurt, rookie RBs that have not looked good so far are worth gold. The Dolphins went and signed Larry Johnson. I would rather have McGahee cause the word around Denver is they are fed up with Moreno. They think he is a wuss and hes on the way out. They were doing everything but screaming WE NEED A RB!!! I would not be surprised at all if McGahee is starting sooner than you think.

I'm not sure that's at all true. I wouldn't drop Thomas, but are you saying that is it clear that Thomas will have more fantasy points than McGahee this year? I don't think that's anywhere near a sure thing.
12 Team League. We start 2 QBs and get .5 PPR, otherwise standard scoring
QBs: Stafford, Fitzpatrick, Collins
RBs: Charles, Mendenhall, Best, Starks, Carter, Karim
WRs: D. Jackson, Marshall, S. Smith, Green,
TE: Hernandez, Cook

Its not a sure thing, but if you drafted thomas you obviously picked him pretty high, draft value wise McGahee was 4 rounds later. If you didn't want thomas to begin with you should have drafted someone else and waited on another running back, get what Im saying? With Bush injury risk, Thomas is a guy you should keep on your roster.

Im sure there is someone else on your team you could drop.

I think your going to be suprised when Bush takes the #1 spot and keep it. I think your lookin at Thomas with your Dolphin fan goggles on.
