Solid squad? Areas in need?

Postby mgriff480 » Fri Sep 09, 2011 7:38 am

Here is my fourth and last team, drafted yesterday. Any thoughts on it? Below it is a trade I have been offered so any advice on that would be great. Thanks!

QB Tony Romo, Dal QB
RB Rashard Mendenhall, Pit RB
RB Felix Jones, Dal RB
FX Tim Hightower, Wsh RB
WR Larry Fitzgerald, Ari WR
WR Steve Johnson, Buf WR
TE Aaron Hernandez, NE TE
D Patriots D/ST D/ST
K Sebastian Janikowski, Oak K
BN James Starks, GB RB
BN Malcom Floyd, SD WR
BN Matthew Stafford, Det QB
BN Lee Evans, Bal WR
BN Brandon Pettigrew, Det TE
BN DeMarco Murray, Dal RB
BN Danny Amendola, StL WR

*I have been offered Run DMC and Kenny Britt for Mendenhall. I'm high on both DMC and Britt this year and a little thin at WR so it seems like a no-brainer, but is it?

12 teams, I had the 10th overall. Pretty standard scoring.

Looks really good to me then. If Romo and Stafford both stay healthy, they are both solid options at QB. Your RB situation is solid and deep. I really think Starks is taking over for Grant in GB and Hightower will be relied on a lot on a weak Washington offense that has almost no chance of being efficient in the air. I like the Murray handcuff for Felix too, even though Choice would be better.

WR and TE brings some questions but I see upside there too.

I actually think the trade would work for you. Giving up Mendenhall is a little rough but with Starks, Jones, DMC and Hightower you can rotate matchups. I like Britt way more in a PPR but I think he's in a better situation than Evans and Amendola combined.

As far as TE goes it's going to be hard to decide which one to start because they could both be up and down this year.

As far as TE goes, I completely agree with you. I hate having to play the matchup game with similar TE's. It seems to almost always be a losing battle. I have a chance of getting Greg Olsen out of the deal. Do you think he is a big enough upgrade to try and go after him?

The downside to Olsen last year was he was required to block more than run routes because the Bears could not freaking block. On any team where there is a decent O line and a pocket passer taking snaps, Olsen is a stud. Carolina doesn't have either. They also have Jeremy Shockey who won't stay healthy. It makes it even more confusing that Ron Rivera coaches the Panthers because he was formerly the Bears D coordinator when Olsen was emerging as a quality TE. I just think he's in the same situation he was before and will be blocking a lot. So, final answer, no... I don't think he's worth getting as an upgrade.

Thanks for the insight. I accepted DMC and Britt for Mendenhall.

Good team for where you drafted. I like the trade, I see Run DMC as an upgrade and Britt a possible #2/#3 WR which you needed.
