How to make matchup voting meaningful?

My league is a Yahoo league and each team is able to vote on matchups (predicted winners). Almost every team takes the time to vote and it can generate some smack-talk discussion, but other than that I feel as though people just do it routinely now and may just look at projected points.

Does anyone have any house rules they use to make matchup voting more meaningful? I've toyed around with tallying the total number of correct choices for each team at the end of the season and including some sort of bonus/prize. Does anyone do anything like this?

Prize or payout is the only way you will get it to matter for the entire league. We have a $50 payout to the winner of our fantasy pick'em. Like you said guys get in it because of the monetary prize and it generates weekly smack talk on the message board. Its funny to see how many guys pick themselves to lose on a weekly matchup when it comes to winning $50
