Waiver wire help needed WHIR

Postby shortbus » Tue Sep 13, 2011 9:43 am

This is my first year of fantasy football, and I thought I had a decent team prior to week 1. I need some advice and here is what I'm starting with:

My team currently consists of:
QB Roethlisberger
WR Andre Johnson
WR Miles Austin
WR Brandon Marshall
RB Mendenhall
RB Shonn Greene
TE Gronkowski
K Rob Birones
D San Diego

Bench: Josh Freeman, Knowshon Moreno, Percy Harvin, Tony Gonzalez, Devery Henderson, Dallas Defense.

As you can see I got DESTROYED at running back this week, and Roethlisberger didn't help much either. I have Waiver #1 in a 10 team league and I am thinking about doing this:

1: Picking up Cam Newton and dropping San Diego
2: Picking up Akers and dropping Birones
3: Picking up Pierre Thomas or Cadillac and dropping Knowshon Moreno.

If I pick up Newton I might try to trade Freeman or Roethlisberger for a WR or RB. I don't think I need two TE's, but I feel that Tony Gonzalez is a good backup for Gronkowski. Ultimately I know that Mendenhall will do better, but Greene and Moreno are expendable to me now.

Available Players:
RB: Pierre Thomas, Carnell Williams, Ben Tate, Darren Sproles, Derrick Ward, Marcel Reece, CJ Spiller, Danny Woodhead
QB: Henne, Newton, Sanchez, Hasselbeck, Grossman, McCoy
WR: Early Doucet, Randall Cobb, Doug Baldwin, Robert Meachum, Davone Bess
K: Akers, Gould, Scobee, Lindell, Folk, Nugent, Kasay

I've tried to be thorough, and I appreciate any and all advice you all can give. Let me know what you'd do in my situation. Thank you!

Ok so welcome to fantasy football haha the most unpredictable game ever! ok so your right about dropping SD because a team should never harbor 2 D's, also Newton is a decent look but you can never trust a rookie early in season lets see what he does against a D like GB, I would personally look to package a rothlisberger and someone els deal to grab matt stafford maybe get rid of Harvin and grab doucet, your right about not needing 2 TEs I like hernandez enough to drop gonzo but thats up to you, I would definitely grab akers im suprised hes still avaliable, hold on to moreno he will improve, id grab williams and drop gonzo

QB: Philip Rivers
WR: Andre Johnson
WR: Miles Austin
RB: Tim Hightower
TE: Brandon Pettigrew
WR/RB/TE: Kenny Britt
K: Alex Henery
DEF: Detroit
RB:Mark Ingram
WR: Percy Harvin
RB:CJ spiller
QB: Chad Henne
Offensive Coordinator
