Trade for Chris Johnson?

Postby BrandonSi » Thu Sep 15, 2011 10:05 am

There's a guy in my league who has a serious QB problem.. He has Petyon and Donovan McNab.. he got schooled in Week 1, so he might be open to letting go of Chris Johnson.. Looking at my team, what would be the best that you could come up with as an offer..

Would Bush + Flacco get it done? Am I just stupid thinking I can pull this off? Maybe throw in Best, as well?

My team

QB Tony Romo
WR Hakeem Nicks
WR Stevie Johnson
RB Ray Rice
RB Reggie Bush
TE Jimmy Graham
W/R/T Santana Moss
K Billy Cundiff
DEF Dallas

Bench --
Jahvid Best - RB
Steven Jackson - RB
Santonio Holmes - WR
Joe Flacco - QB
Zach Miller - TE
Ryan Fitzpatrick - QB

His team

QB Donovan McNabb
WR Calvin Johnson
WR Dwayne Bowe
RB Chris Johnson
RB Ryan Mathews
TE Tony Gonzalez
W/R/T Marshawn Lynch
K Josh Brown

bench
QB Peyton Manning
RB Fred Jackson
WR Malcom Floyd
WR Terrell Owens
WR Braylon Edwards
DEF Chicago
DEF San Diego

Flacco and Bush will never fly IMO, even in a PPR league where the guy buys both players' performances to the max degree. Best and Flacco might be a good lowball starting point, but prepare to get shot down there as well. If you're not offering Romo, I really think it'll take Jackson and Flacco to get Johnson. If you wanted to consolidate your depth/risk, you could probably offer Flacco, Best and Bush for Johnson and Lynch or something like that ... feel the guy out, and if you think he won't be so offended by a lowball that he just walks away from the table, start by offering him his choice of Bush/Best and Flacco and go from there - just don't be surprised if the price is MUCH more than you initially offered when all's said and done ;-D

I honestly think most people with CJ would think this a pretty weak offer, weak enough that no counter would come. Typically guys with really bad QBs what a big upgrade, so you'd likely have to consider including Romo.

Yep no way a CJ2K owner goes for that.

The pot needs to be very sweet....otherwise, it's just going to be an insult. If you really want to attempt this, you're going to have to give up Fitzpatrick and (Best or SJax).
