Backup QB Help!

Postby Lucas Graham » Fri Sep 16, 2011 10:12 am

PPR League, 10-team league. 1 QB Spot. Other QB sits on bench.

I just traded my backup QB and backup RB (Flacco/FJackson) in return for Kyle Orton and Cedric Benson...

But I'm wondering if I should drop Orton and pick up a FA QB? Below Is a list of the top available FA QB's. What should I do?

Ryan Fitzpatrick
Mat Cassel
Chad Henne
Cam Newton
Rex Grossman
Matt Hasselbeck
Jason Campbell
PPR
Brees
M Wallace
B Lloyd
M WIlliams tb
A Foster
F Jackson
D Sproles
A Gates
O Daniels
M Coulston
Lucas Graham

Without knowing anymore I'd hold Kyle Orton. He should be able to bounce back after his week 1 performance to some degree. I'm not sure which week you need your backup, so I can't suggest any of the FA options based on their matchup. Knowing your starter would help a little bit.

Also, if Cam Newton continues to produce he is worth the add just simply based on upside.

My starting QB is Drew Brees, and has a week 11 bye

Simply because Brees' bye week occurs so late into the season I think it would be in your best interest to remain very flexible with your back-up QB spot. Many injuries and mysteries lay between week 2 and week 11, so this is a question that will be easier to answer closer to that bye.
