Is trading away Harvin and McGahee for Gates a good idea?

The other player has Gates, Witten, and Gonzalez, so I think he might bite. We play in a 2wr, wr/rb flex, 2 rb, te, d, qb, k ppr system.

My full roster is:
Sam Bradford, StL QB
Cam Newton, Car QB
LeSean McCoy, Phi RB
Rashard Mendenhall, Pit RB
Ahmad Bradshaw, NYG RB
Dez Bryant, Dal WR
Santonio Holmes, NYJ WR
Vincent Jackson, SD WR
Vernon Davis, SF TE
Saints D/ST D/ST
John Kasay, NO K
Reggie Bush, Mia RB
Willis McGahee, Den RB
Brandon Pettigrew, Det TE

I would do this deal under one condition, you then try to trade Davis. To me Gates is a better option then Davis, but at the same time Davis has great value, and the is no real need to carry 2 top end TEs.

Give your RB depth and the fact that with that depth and 3 great WR options this trade, if he takes it, would not hurt you, only help you. I would then try to flip Davis+one of your WR or other RBs to upgrade that slot and then roll with Gates as the starter and Pettigrew as your backup.

Good deal for you if he does it, just try to upgrade after the deal.

A big thanks to deluxe_247 for the sweet sig!

I would advise against it, Davis is a top tight end. Willis could be starting in Denver or getting more and more carries with Moreno's injuries, and Harvin is McNabb's favorite target. I say your good at tight end and don't need the trade.

edit: you do have depth and if you can do above poster's upgrade idea then it might be worth it.

Don't do it..if he has those TE's let him wait it out.

More importantly, Davis is a good enough TE that I wouldn't go crazy trying to get another.

Thanks for the advice. I'll pull the trade and hang onto my original guys and ride it out. I really hope Alex Smith can begin to get Davis the ball sometime soon.
