Strange Strategy Question should I NOT play ANYONE if ahead?

So here's the deal after the last game tonight the score is 88-87 in my favor. I have cadillac williams in the monday night game and my opponent has nobody. Do I have to start him? Only other RB I could start would be Steven Jackson... I'm not terribly concerned, but I could lose hypothetically if cadillac or jackson fumble and get no yards which would result in negative points.

Any ideas from those vets out there?

The chances of cadilac getting negative points are SLIM. It would be silly not to play him, but Jackson is not likely to play on Monday. So techincally you could play him and get 0.

edit: and yes you could have an empty position depending on what site you play on. also netting you 0.

Thanks, I'll play cadillac, it would be pretty lame to do that to one of my bros anyway. Besides my roommate just let me know that overall point are a tie breaker for playoff seedings. Might as well pick up 8-10.

As you your friend said nearly all leagues rank your position in the league first by W-L ratio and then those with the same W-L are placed by who has the most points scored.

Many times players near the top will have the same W-L and points earned will determine who gets the higher playoff position.

Almost never ever never ever ever should there be a time in which playing no player is better than playing someone.

There's also the possibility of a point adjustment. So, I wouldn't consider a 1 point lead safe enough to sit anybody.

Thanks a lot for the help guys. Let me tell you how things turned out. Come monday night for some reason the score changed to 88-88 (stat correction?). Cadillac played like crap but still managed to get the 2-3 pts I needed for the win. Thanks for the help, kept a tie off my record.
