Target WHOM to replace Charles (WHIR)

Postby toobitter » Mon Sep 19, 2011 12:47 am

10 team standard league.
I'm in the Jamaal Charles predicament. Luckily, I've got some decent bargaining chips.

QB - Rivers (Orton)
RB - ????, McFadden, Bradshaw (D. Thomas, Spiller, Helu)
WR - Wayne, Maclin (Moss, Collie, Colston [no IR])
TE - Pettigrew
K - Crosby
DEF - CHI (HOU)

Got a guy who's been trying to pry one of my wides from me. He's sent offers for Moss and Maclin and loves Wayne as well.
He's only been offering guys like Grant and Moreno. He also has Foster, Hightower, SJAX.
Does offering up somebody like Moss for Hightower make sense? I do have Helu as protection.
Another possibility is maybe Wayne for SJax though I might have to throw something else in.

Who are other Charles owners pursuing? Blount? Beanie? Mathews? Any thoughts on what kind of value I could get for guys like Moss or Maclin?

Any help would be greatly appreciated and of course I will pay it back.

Honestly, I'm not sure. I wouldn't take the trades he's offering, but Moss is at least consistent. I would only want Foster or Hightower. I'd offer him Moss for Hightower or stay put. Your lucky you have Daniel Thomas.

Hightower for Moss is a very fair trade in my opinion. But since you're the one in trouble, and he knows it, you may have to settle for Maclin for Hightower. In my opinion, I wouldn't go after SJax. Yes, he's the better running back. But, you're probably going to have to give up more or "buy high" for him, and I'm very worried about him being injury prone. He's kinda high risk- high reward. However, all that said, I'd definitely test the waters with other teams in your league and go for the best deal.

Looking at it more. If he doesn't go Moss for Hightower, I'd go Maclin for Hightower, especially since Maclin is coming off a 2 TD game with almost 200 receiving yards. That should be an easy sell. And i have Colston right now, and from what I've read, they think he'll be back for week 5. You can ride moss in your number wr2 slot for a few.weeks if you have to, and then you'll have Colston back. But like I said, definitely test the waters with other teams.

that same guy is pushing really hard to get maclin and wayne off me now. no way i do ryan grant or knowshon for either of those guys. i figure i'll let him sweat before countering for deals involving hightower.

on a side note, another guy is already trying to overhaul his roster.
this guy has put the following on the block
chris johnson
frank gore
miles austin
brandon lloyd

is it time to try and steal away johnson right now? do you guys think he's going to produce eventually?
was thinking i might be able to get away with something like

johnson and lloyd
for
wayne and bradshaw

or do i try to deal a guy like daniel thomas or roy helu after each had monster games?

Don't get too aggressive trying to trade for RBs. Mcfadden and Bradford is fine, and Daniel Thomas is also helpful. If you can get a steal like Hightower for Moss, obviously do it, but your WR core isn't THAT strong to take a hit. Try your best to steal someone on the WW.

was just offered this deal.
in my opinion it's ridiculously in his favor, as i prefer mcfadden to johnson already. austin and maclin is a toss up and thomas is definitely the better player to have over tolbert. if this guy is still valuing johnson this highly, i may have to go elsewhere.
what do you guys think?

I get:
Chris Johnson
Miles Austin
Mike Tolbert

I give:
Darren McFadden
Jeremy Maclin
Daniel Thomas

his roster looks like this

QB - Roethlisberger (Cutler)
RB - C. Johnson, Gore, F. Jackson (M. Bush, R. Brown)
WR - Austin, Lloyd (Burleson, M. Thomas, Floyd, R. Williams)

In regard to the trade discussed below
    I get:
    Chris Johnson
    Miles Austin
    Mike Tolbert

    I give:
    Darren McFadden
    Jeremy Maclin
    Daniel Thomas

I'd consider it as a valid option.

C. Johnson V. D. McFadden
- C. Johnson's value is low considering his slow start, but I believe his historical stats hold some merit for what is to come (especially considering the emergence of a pass game spanning from Britt). Toss up, slightly favoring McFadden

M. Austin v. J. Maclin
- Maclin is hit or miss (as is Austin) however I do not foresee Vick playing anything close to a full season this year. At least Kitna provides some quality backup in DAL if Romo goes down which does not totally hamper Austin's value. I like Austin over Maclin.

Tolbert v. Thomas
-Tolbert is more dynamic although Thomas may emerge as Mia's primary run option and Tolbert's on a time share. See if you can substitute Tolbert for F. Jackson. If he will sub F Jackson for Tolbert in this trade I'd be more prone to take the trade.
