The Weekly Weakling 03: Reggie Wayne

Postby WebHamster » Wed Sep 21, 2011 10:34 am

Last week I mentioned it might be a good time to sell high on Jamaal Charles. In retrospect I wish I had taken my own advice, but as they say, hindsight is 20/20. Nobody can predict injuries with great accuracy, or even slightly better than bad accuracy for that matter. There’s no telling whether I [...]

Good read... I traded away Wayne after a decent week one figuring it wouldnt get any beter then that.. He's lost a step and without Manning pulling the trigger, its just not going to be a good year for him..

I kept him, but I've delegated him to the WR2/WR3 position. I'd already decided to sit him this week before reading the article, and I do agree with everything it says. Interesting stats, too.

Who did you get for him?

I'm not ready to agree or disagree on whether or not he's "lost a step" just yet and while Collins is no Peyton I don't necessarily feel that is a terrible thing as we all know that the weaker QBs tend to focus on their WR1 more rather than spread it around, so Wayne can probably still contribute IMO.

I would have to agree that you got the better end of that deal then. Nice trade ;-D

Been debating Mike Thomas or Reggie Wayne all week and even after reading this article I think I am going to start Reggie Wayne just because new QBs in a new system tend to lean towards the WR1 and TE much more than any other receiving threat. The one thing that also has to be taken into account is that the Seahawks threw for a measly 133 yards against the Steelers which definitely helps out that 174 passing yards/game.
A win next week and all is forgotten.

I am a big supporter of Wayne but without Manning I've been worried. I turned down getting Fitzpatrick for Wayne in my 2
QB league (and I've had no shortage of QB issues) during week 1 and 2 sigh. Luckily the same own traded me Bradford for
Wayne straight up yesterday. I hope Wayne has himself a great season but I think he's in for a long year that will frustrate
his owners more than anything.

In the article I wrote I was not saying you should trade or get rid of him, although he won't be quite as effective this season as he has been with Manning. I'm just saying don't start him this week. I don't like the matchup.

He'll still put up ok numbers as the season goes on IMO.

I think Indy should kill Peyton Manning then get a voodoo priest to reanimate him so he can come back right away. He was never that fleet of foot anyways ....
