Evaluating Trade Offers

I'm looking for some general advice on how to evaluate trades. I've read through Helpful tips for trading success but what I'm not quite clear on is how to evaluate a trade empirically. What stats do I look at, how can I compare an RB to a QB, current / historical numbers vs. projected numbers, upsides / downsides etc.
