Explanation.... PLEASE!

How in the hell do you go 11-1 and lose in the first round to an 8th seed with a line-up that consists of:

A couple of points...

Firstly, I don't think that having 8 teams in the playoffs is a good idea. I've had a discussion with the other people in one of my leagues earlier this year about it and we've concluded that 8 teams is simply too many. We now have 4 in the winners bracket and 4 in the consolation bracket, just so that they can get to play a little more, but without the hope of actually winning anything

Secondly, I guess there is something to be said for not having playoffs at all and just simply relying on the regular season to take care of things. This seems to de-randomize things a little more... but perhaps then you'll run into people with the same record on top and have to worry about head to head record, and then, depending on the size of your league, that mgiht be tied etc. etc. etc....

there is no perfect system. the ones we have are all flawed in their little individual ways...

#8 beating #1 and then going on to reach the title game is a tradition in my league...
