Trade Ingram and Jacobs for Dez?....WHIR

Postby GeneralTsou » Tue Sep 27, 2011 8:00 pm

After losing Kenny Britt to a torn ACL and MCL, I am in a bind at WR

12-team PPR, roster in sig. We start 2 RB, 2 WR, and 1 RB/WR flex

I start Run DMC, CJ2K, and Mendy (praying the latter two get it together)

Ingram will surely get it going soon when the Saints start blowing out teams.

I have Jennings and Denarius Moore as my only WR and I can probably snag Jacoby Ford off the WW.

Is Ingram and Brandon Jacobs too much to give up for Dez Bryant?
12-team PPR

QB: Cam Newton, Colin Kaepernick
RB: Jamaal Charles, Darren Sproles, Knowshon Moreno, Montee Ball
WR: Jordy Nelson, Larry Fitzgerald, Vincent Jackson, Cecil Shorts, Justin Blackmon
TE: Martellus Bennett
K: Mason Crosby
D/ST: Cleveland

You know, at first I was going to say maybe it's a tad too much, but after thinking about it I think it's fair. Ingram has the upside, but hasn't done a lot yet and Jacobs is the RB2 in a RBBC. Dez is a top receiver. If you re-drafted today I think Dez would go before both of those players (likely a few rounds before Jacobs). It may be a tough couple weeks with Miles out, as the 'Boys are thin at receiver, but I expect Braynt to put up big numbers the rest of this season. If you can grab Dez do it. it's a fair deal, and would help your team. what running backs are available on waivers?

What kind of lineup do you have to use (# of RB's, WR's and flex)? I think you are giving up a bit too much for Dez. Additionally, if Dallas can't get the run game going, I don't think Dez is good enough, technically as a route runner, to get open. Plus, I think defenses will be able to double up on him. However, with the exception of PHI, Dallas has some great matchups over the next few weeks (NE, STL, Sea, Buf). Again, I think it depends on how many you have to play.

ur stacked at RB and thin at WR.

Jacobs and Ingram will likely get a rare start....so i say go for it and strengthen your WR core.

Graham, Cadillac, Jerome Harrison, DeMarco Murry etc. just handcuffs.

Reggie Bush was dropped but not sure he'll clear waivers and I am 10th. Someone will surely snatch him up.

Originally, I had Calvin Johnson, Kenny Britt, Manningham, David Nelson at WR. I traded Best and Manningham for CJ2K. Then I traded Calvin Johnson and David Nelson for Rashard Mendenhall (buy low?) and Greg Jennings. Then Kenny Britt tore his ACL and MCL. This left me devastated at WR with Jennings and Denarius Moore as my only WR. Just snagged Jacoby Ford of waivers.

I would make that trade. What matters is whether this is good value for you, not so much whether Ingram and Jacobs are fair value for Bryant. As your roster stands, Jacobs is rarely going to break your starting lineup. Ingram might move into it later this season if he hits his potential and your top three falter/get injured. Bryant, on the other hand, will immediately move into your WR2 position. That means more points in your starting lineup, at the expense of some depth and insurance on your bench.

Don't get me wrong, you shouldn't just give away players for pennies on the dollar, but don't obsess too much about whether you are extracting full value from them. This is a good trade for you. I'd do it.
