Bye week RB options - who to start?!

Postby SmokyMcNasty » Wed Oct 05, 2011 2:10 am

With Ray Rice on bye and Mendenhall gimpy (not to mention terrible even when healthy), I'm undecided on who to start. I need to start 2 RB's, non-PPR league:

Beanie Wells vs Vikings
Mike Tolbert vs Broncos
Isaac Redman vs Titans

Also on waivers: Jon Stewart vs Saints and Thomas Jones vs Colts

Right now I have Beanie and Tolbert penciled in as starters. I will likely put Redman in if Mendenhall is ruled out. With Mewelde Moore also ruled out, that would mean full load of carries to Redman. What if Mendenhall plays though? Beanie and Tolbert then?

Also have a WR question. I lost Kenny Britt for the season and I saw that Dexter McCluster was listed as eligible only as a WR in my CBS league (even though he plays RB), so I picked him up and started him as my WR3 this past week. Only got me 3 lousy points. I was going to bench him immediately but saw he plays the Colts this week. Should I leave him in the lineup given the amount of carries he'll likely get vs a weak Colts run D? What other WR in fantasy will see so many carries every week? His value is intriguing to me... but I can't afford another 3 points... My other option at WR3 is Antonio Brown (vs Titans), who is starting to get more and more looks for the Steelers...

It is crazy how similar your RB2 decision is to mine.

Definitely go with Beanie.

IF Mendenhall is out I think Redman gets the call based on number of carries alone. Depending on news about Mendy Redman may see close to 20 carries regardless.

I dont think any of your other options will see as many carries, it seems like Tolbert has been left in the dust by Mathews.

Thoughts on mine, although to be honest I just want to hear that Mendenhall is sitting, sorry.

Yeah I guess this may all be dependent on whether Mendenhall plays.

And yeah I realize Tolbert lost a lot of his value with Mathews playing so well, but Tolbert still got a TD last week. I suspect he'll continue to get many goal-line looks..

And what about my WR3 options... thoughts?

Beanie is a lock. Redman if Mendenhall is out (likely he is, or will be very limited)...otherwise Tolbert.

I agree Beanie is a lock.

I like Tolbert for RB2. Don't try to figure out which guy is going to have the "game" in Pittsburgh. In the end no matter how you slice it they are both cutting into each other's production anyway. Tolbert has a very high probability of scoring in the redzone. San Diego makes too many trips to the red zone to not bank on it. I cannot say the same for Pittsburgh so far this season.
