Big Foster trade, could use some help - WHIR 100%

Postby scalqq » Thu Oct 06, 2011 6:35 pm

Here's the trade I'm thinking up. 10 team, Non-PPR, standard scoring league rules.

I give Michael Turner, Percy Harvin, and Willis McGahee for Arian Foster and Santonio Holmes

Is this fair? Or am I giving too much? The team I'm trading for could use some serious help in my league. He's 0-4.

Here are the teams for perspective.

My Team..........................................His Team

QB Tom Brady....................................QB Jay Cutler
RB Michael Turner...............................RB Arian Foster
RB Fred Jackson ................................RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis
WR Miles Austin .................................WR Brandon Lloyd
WR VIncent Jackson.............................WR Santana Moss
TE Jimmy Graham...............................TE Tony Gonzalez
W/R Percy Harvin..............................W/R Santonio Holmes
BN Willis McGahee............................. BN Thomas Jones
BN Jacoby Ford ................................BN James Jones
BN David Nelson................................BN LaDanian Tomlinson
BN Jason Campbell............................BN Payton Manning
BN Stevan Ridley ..............................BN Mark Sanchez
BN Fred Davis.................................. BN Derrick Mason
BN Michael Bush...............................BN Brandon Pettigrew

I think it a fair trade but now is a bad time to trade for foster. You always want to buy low on players, like 2 or 3 weeks ago when their were questions of a time share and injury concerns. I got foster for Hightower/R.Bush and my #1waiver 2 weeks ago. I was selling high on hightower and bush and buying low on Foster. Thats also how I got CJ and Petterson. Its all about selling high and buying low, just like the stock market.

Santonio Holmes hasn't produced much so far. I'd stay where you're at.

Gotcha on the fluctuating values with certain players. I'm trying to sell-high on Turner because there's no way he's maintaining this kind of production for the rest of the season - so I'm willing to pay the price for Foster. I'm also hoping Holmes will pick it up as defenses start to focus less on the NYJ passing game.

Maybe a better trade could be Turner and Harvin for Foster?

Despite having 2 TDs, Turner had only 70 yards on 26 carries against a struggling Seahawks team... Turner is not the same player he used to be. Now is the time to sell-high if there ever was one.

Its still a good trade......TAKE IT! I dont care that no one likes Holmes, I still think he is a great buy low player and will turn things around. Im trying to land Holmes in my league. IMO you would be upgrading at WR and RB with that trade.

It's fair, and I see why you'd consider it. I drafted Holmes on all my squads - really thought he looked like a 70/1000/8 guy you could get several rounds later than the rest of the WRs like that were going for. So far I've been wrong. I think he and Harvin are about on the same level. For my sake, I hope you're right about Holmes though.

So for me the trade comes down to Turner/McGahee for Foster. Very fair ... could pay off for you. If you had Tate, it would be a no-brainer. The loss of McGahee may hurt more than you think. He seems pretty solidly Denver's RB1 now. In fact, you should be starting him in your flex (not Harvin). Though if Tebow becomes the starter, McGahee stands to lose a lot of value (since Tebow, like Newton, will steal GL rushes). And Turner's not without his own injury issues.

I guess if it were me I'd do that deal. Foster has his hammy issues, but it's not like Turner doesn't have his own injury baggage. McGahee's value could deflate in an instant (either Tebow starts, or they start playing Moreno more - neither of which would surprise me in the least).

I like it. Foster is a beast obviously and Holmes' value will never be lower. The jets don't play the ravens again.
