Should I throw this week's game?

Postby Thomas » Wed Dec 03, 2003 3:26 pm

It'll benefit me with my seeding position next week.

if it helps yur seedin then yes. I'm throwin some of my games to get a better match up for 1st week of playoffs. I look at all of my opponents players matchups for 1st week. I'm throwing i think 2 games this week to get a good matchup

Would throwing the game affect any teams getting into the playoffs (i.e. could a team get eliminated from the playoffs if you throw the game)? If not, go for it. If so, only if its a money league. Just my 2c.

I am inclined to not throw games if only due to the disruption of karma and momentum, not to mention that it only works in scenarios where only your game matters. For instance, if you lose to duck a guy, and the outcome of another game puts you right in a match with the very guy you were trying to avoid. Suck it up and win out :-[

well, it's odd that losing would benefit you, but if you are willing to risk it, sure go for it

Wow. I realize I'm a rook and sporting that slick "L" tag, but jeez. Maybe its dumb pride, but there's no way I'd go into any week without what I thought was my best chance of winning.

I quit watching NASCAR when drivers quit trying to WIN races.
Don't tell me that most FFB players would throw a game. Please.

Nice reference.

I'm kinda in the same boat. I'm in 2nd place but could fall to 3rd with a loss this weekend. The team I would face in first round if I finished 2nd is surging (just got Faulk coming off of injury). The team I would face if I was the 3rd seed would be a lot easier in terms of match ups.

In the end, I'll probably try to finish strong with a win. Too many variables involved in the seeding still and something about throwing a game doesn't sit right with me.

I'll be honest, I've been playing for a bunch of years, and have never even thought of not putting up my best line-up.
