Carson Palmer a Raider?

Postby scottaa1 » Tue Oct 18, 2011 9:22 am

Mort on ESPN is reporting that Palmer is set to become a Raider. Anyone have any proof of this or details on the exchange?

Schefter said they are on the verge of completing the deal. Raiders give a 1st round pick plus possibly another 1st rounder depending on how he proforms. Seems like ALOT to give for an aging and up and down QB. Reunited Palmer with Hugh Jackson though (was WR coach at CIN). How soon will he be ready to play?

Al Davis' legend lives on in Oakland!!!!

They play KC this week, BYE the following week and then host the Broncos ... I bet he steps right in this week

I thought I read somewhere Raiders didn't have any first round picks in the next 2 years? Anyone can confirm what they gave up for Palmer?

Oakland is down a lot of picks the next two years.

2012 Draft Picks
Round 1 - Traded to Cinci (Carson Palmer)
Round 2 - Traded to NE (2011 3rd & 4th round picks)
Round 4 - Traded to WAS (Jason Campbell)
Round 7 - Traded to SEA (Aaron Curry)

2013 Draft Picks
Round 1 or 2 - Traded to Cinci (Palmer)
Round 4 or 5 - Traded to SEA (Curry)

2 1st round picks wow.... definetly not worth it. Guess it helps them in the short-term though

Heard these rumours yesterday but I didn't think there was a chance. I'm happy Palmer is back in the league, that whole situation was frustrating.

Sure it was an overpay by the Raiders, but lets be honest, they only get about 10 percent of their first round picks right anyway.

But but but... there might be a kicker that needs to be taken in the first round in the next two drafts.

They should receive a comp pick for Asomugha.

From a fantasy perspective I am definitely a little more attracted to some of the Raider WRs, too bad they are all owned }:-)

Aside from the Raiders paying steep homage to Al Davis, the other thing that makes this a bad deal is that Palmer is the antithesis of a Raider QB. Raiders passing game is designed for a QB who can throw deep, Palmer simply hasn't been able to throw the long ball for a half a decade now. Rest or Rust, the time off is not going to rebuild his arm strength. they would have been served better to see if Bush still has enough value to pry someones backup QB from them.
