Bad Shape at RB, Who Should I Grab?

Postby JMTrio » Tue Oct 25, 2011 12:33 am

I am in an 8 team league that's heavy on QB points.

I have: Blount, Hillis, and Best for RB's... all hurt, so I picked up Jackie Battle and Maurice Morris.

These seem to be the best options that are FA right now. Which one(s) should I pick up?

Addai
Tolbert
Moreno
Lynch
Brandon Jacobs
Daniel Thomas
Pierre Thomas
Starks/Grant
Spiller
Jonathan Stewart
McGahee
LT
Thomas Jones
Ben Tate
Ridley
Delone Carter
Snelling
Hardesty
McCluster
Carnell Williams
Bernard Scott

In particular, I need 2 of these guys to start for week 8... and ideally keep them going forward, since who knows what will happen with Best, Blount, and Hillis.

I'd pick up Moreno for sure since he will be getting most/all of the carries with Mcgahee out. They'll be running to help Tebow out. Also, I'd go with with Tolbert. Even though it's a time share with Matthews, he gets a enough carries and receptions to make him a decent RB2, plus he gets the goalline carries. I'd definitely start those 2 instead of Battle and Morris. If you're looking for a one week start, Scott isn't a bad option since Benson will be serving his suspension this week. Although, we aren't sure just how the carries will be split up in Cincy. Even Jonathan Stewart is a better play than Battle or Morris. Battle may be the main back, but KC actually uses like 5 RB's. And Battle wasn't used at the goalline. Just too many options there.

Daniel Thomas has been off-and-on this season, but pretty decent (Reggie Bush may or may not steal touches on any given week). McGahee is hurt, but when healthy he's a good back. If Hillis stays hurt, I really like Hardesty. It's also generally good to get the backup of your injured RB.

I presume Michael Bush is taken in your league or he would be worth picking up.
I like Moreno, Pierre Thomas and Jonathan Stewart of that list. Stewie is iffy but he has 2TD in last two games and seems to be slowly replacing DeAngelo.
Starks, Hardesty and Daniel Thomas should be good for 50-80 ypg but not sure they'll ever have a breakout game the way the other 3 might.
Carter is probably going to be starting but IND offense is really struggling. Tate probably won't have the same kind of opportunities now that Arian is full go but those seem like other solids.

Good luck,

Tolbert-splits with mathews going to be up and down weeks
Daniel Thomas- "main RB" will lose a small bunch of carries to reggie but not inside to 20
Pierre Thomas- going against STl i'd use him for just this week specially since ingram might be banged up
Moreno-starter going forward unless mcgahee finds a way to play with a broken hand
Delone Carter- not a starter yet, working his way there though addai injury helps him move up depth chart and d brown isn't as explosive
Hardesty- starter till hillis is back and likely split when hillis comes back
Bernard Scott-starter for 1 week against a strong sea run d
Ben Tate- relief for arian maybe stash for possible foster injury
Jonathan Stewart- unpredictable
Lynch-starter unpredictable injured off and on

Addai-injured
Brandon Jacobs-injured
Starks/Grant-pass happy o
Spiller- PPR option only
McGahee-injured
LT- PPr maybe
Thomas Jones - splits with battle... no burst only good foor about 3 yards per carry
Ridley- NE's running backs are a mess
Snelling- only if turner gets hurt
McCluster- too small not really effective battle taking touches.
Carnell Williams- only if SJax gets hurt again

It looks like DMC's injury is not as bad as originally forcast though. Not sure Bush is as high on the list as previously.
