Owens Signing

Postby Kareighuis » Tue Oct 25, 2011 7:30 am

What team do you think might sign Terrell Owens? Possibilitities-

SF- injuries at WR (edwards, morgan) gives FA brett swain a good chance to produce this year

SD- injuries (vjax, Mathews, tolbert, gates) hobbles the offense. Owens would give rivers a legit WR opposite Jackson.

TEN- team lacks top tier WR with Britt going down, CJ1k hasn't performed up to his contract

WAS- moss out for 5-7 weeks, hightower done for season. Low upside or untested rooks left at WR

What team would owens best fit?

I say ... no team

Owens will be 38, coming off an ACL knee surgery and has been less than stellar the last two years. I dont' think any team out there would risk the cancer he brings in order to reap what benefits he may have left in him ... which at this point are pretty much nothing!

I would put it at a less than 50% chance he signs anywhere.

But, credit where credit is due - he was unbelieveably good last year prior to getting hurt...

Like top 15 WR good despite missing 3 full games and a majority of a 4th where he got hurt - 72/983/9 total.

He had a remarkable stretch weeks 4-9 (with the bye in there):

10/222/1
7/102/1
9/88/1
5/65/2
10/141/2
Kate Upton's Husband - dead
Mr. Blonde - champ
Yo Soy Fiesta - dead
Old South - champ
Full of Fanta Tonight - champ
Sex Panther (SB) - dead
Sex Panther (FF) - dead
Sex Panther (IBL) - dead
Sex Panther (Dynasty) dead

No surprise-

1- did you see how much a circus it was?
2- with as much media there, and all the video and after-action reporting, no need to send someone. The open workout was more of an announcement that he was ready to play, not a plea for a job interview.

As much as I dont think he should get a shot, it would not surprise me at all. Especially teams having a hard time putting fans in the seats. I could see him helping out. Jacksonville maybe? Oh wait, they need someone that can throw the ball not catch it. Indianapolis? No they dont want him, they are losing on purpose....

In a day where you see players failing because of laziness and lack of work ethic (Haynesworth anyone?), that same knock cannot be made against TO. He looked to be good to very good on some of those routes yesterday, and he is still not fully healed from an injury that would have ended most careers. Also, in Buffalo, he wasn't as big of a nutcase as usual. I definitely wouldn't put it out of the realm of possibility that he gets picked up somewhere, as long as he willing to convince Rosenhaus that he isn't expecting 10 mil.

I would throw Chicago in there as a potential team and you can always count on the Miami Dolphins to sign up an "end of his" career type guy.

All in all, he will only play for the Rush in Arena League as there is way too much young talent that will gladly take what Owens pi$$ed away.

I'm guessing the only interest will come from a team in the Arena league! ;-) :-D
