Strategy Question... QB versus WR

Postby JMTrio » Wed Nov 02, 2011 4:14 pm

The guy I'm playing is winning the league and has Rodgers for QB. I am trying to decide between 2 different WR3s.

I have Jordy Nelson and Mario Manningham. My question is... am I better playing Nelson since my opponent has Rodgers? If Rodgers throws to him, we both get points. Is this a good idea? Or should I play Manningham instead (i think they'll do about the same points wise this week) for the same reason. What do you think?

The #1 rule in fantasy is start the guy you think is going to score the most points plain and simple. If you genuinely think Nelson will have a better game than Manningham start him. I personally think Manningham is the safer bet but ultimately you have to decide who you think will score better.

I dont worry about who the other team is starting. Just start your best players and in this case thats Manningham facing the pats (worst pass defense in the league).

Sometimes it is wise to consider WR/QB strategy... For example, I'm currently in 2nd place and I was able to beat the 1st place guy earlier this season because I countered the points he scored with Drew Brees by starting J. Graham and M. Colston. Ultimately, you should start whoever is going to produce, but this strategy might give you some insurance in close match-ups.

Think you could help?
