Rivers for Palmer

It sounds dumb in my head but I keep coming back to this trade. I have one of the top 3 teams in my 12 team league. We start one QB.

Should I trade my Philip Rivers for Carson Palmer? Does you answer change if I can get Palmer and Tate (Foster handcuff) for Rivers?

Palmer has a slightly easier playoff schedule and he would count as a 10th round keeper next year for me. Rivers would be a 1st rounder since I drafted him there this year.

Rivers, Foster, Gore, Megatron, Boldin, Dez Bryant, Gates, Eagles D and Crosby is my starting lineup. My bench is pretty thin.

No way. Even with Tate I don't do this trade. Maybe next year Palmer will make this trade worth it, but right now he is going to be too inconsistent with this much playing time.

Personally I wouldn't trade Rivers for Palmer, as he doesn't have enough snaps under center to prove himself this season yet. Rivers has been inconsistent for sure, but he's certainly got the ability to put up points, so I'd stick with him.

I'm a fantasy football rookie having a league leading 7-2 record. Now I have a question related to your thread. You wrote, "Does you answer change if I can get Palmer and Tate (Foster handcuff) for Rivers?" I own Ben Tate in my league, whereas my biggest competitor owns Arian Foster. What does "Foster handcuff" mean??

A handcuff is just the backup to a stud. The value for me to have Tate is that if Foster gets hurt I have his backup. It is generally referred to as handcuffing your starter. The bonus to Tate is he is the clear cut replacement that could almost duplicate Fosters production.
