Relegated to third on the depth chart and unlikely to take another snap for the franchise he led to two AFC championship games, Jaguars quarterback Mark Brunell has acknowledged he will play elsewhere in 2004.
"Without a doubt, most definitely, I won't be back," Brunell said following a meeting with rookie head coach Jack Del Rio. "That's been obvious for a while."
An 11-year veteran, Brunell opened this season as the starter and held that spot for the first three games before suffering an elbow injury at Indianapolis on Sept. 21.
Brunell has told friends he hopes to make a cameo appearance in the Dec. 21 home finale but allowed it might not happen. There is a chance the team will make him a captain for that game so that Jaguars fans can acknowledge his significant contribution to the franchise.
Given the volume of teams that figure to make a quarterback change in 2004, there likely will be a market for Brunell once he's officially a free agent. While he might have to drop his financial expectations a bit, there is still a possibility that Brunell could become a starter somewhere next season.

Kinda sad actually.....I remember the 1996 playoffs when Jacksonville knocked Denver out, Brunell singlehandedly won that game for Jacksonville.
If they wouldn't have beaten Denver in that game, it would have been three superbowl rings for Elway.....

(hey! anything can happen!! )
wow ill have to remember this one slow lol
anyway I think he'd be best fit for Arizona personally as their team stands now because Chicago took Grosman last year. It all really depends on where each team drafts because Manning and White would be great developemental QBs. It's a pretty strong QB class next year.
Yeah, he'll probably go to a team who will draft a qb and use him to ease the transition alah Kordell in Chicago. Arizona does seem like a very possible scenario. Dallas too, though I would have thought they'd try and grab him when he was being dangled earlier in the year. Brunell has always been a tough mofo, and was playing pretty admirably earlier this year before getting yanked for the rook. Too bad for him, but if he does go somewhere that needs a qb, there's the strong possibility that he could suffer a similar fate to this year, where they will draft a qb, let Brunell start, and then pull him half way through the year and let the rookie get his reps. Cleveland? Oh yeah, what about Pittsburgh? Perhaps they could make a run at Brunell and Henson in the offseason. It shall be interesting.
nah, not Pittsburgh, they have a good QB, he just needs protection.......he'd be a good fit in Chi town, especially since the Kordell experiment went bad
