My 5 year old son came home one day and started to rib on me saying that he likes the Patriots.

Being a Jets season ticket holder, I laughed at him and said yeah right.

Now in thinking about it...am I a bad Dad for raising my kids as Jets fan? Part of me figures that being a Jets fan will let them experience the ups and downs of life. From elation to disappointment on a game by game basis.

Another part of me figures that if they are Pats fans, they will be happier overall.

What to do, what to do.

There are a number of help organizations in the Detroit area where you could share and learn to cope with your fears and questions. I am thinking of opening a chapter in Indianapolis.

Funny I tell my six year old, that we only like the Raiders, cause the 49ers say bad words and spit.

Teach him to be a JETS fan. He'll be more resilient that way. Life isn't easy and not everyone gets a trophy.

And if the JETS ever do win a SB, he will be much more appreciative of it. ;-D

Lets see... Are you a bad parent for letting your kid be a Jets fan? No. Kids grow up getting bum advice from their parents all the time and adjust to live normal productive lives. You should fully expect he tunes you out by the time he is 8 though. :-b

Now, that you come to a FFB site to seek child raising advice, that is disturbing and something you should never tell your local child protective services agents about.

If you like the Jets enough, I'm sure he'll be a Jets fan eventually. Growing up around I'm a family who's passionate about a team will eventually carry over to the kids....that's why I'm a Browns fan, even though I live in Steelers country, lol. Although, I must admit, I hope my daughter picks a team other than the Browns...to much heart ache from all my Cleveland teams!
