With running back Warrick Dunn lost for the season, the Falcons have been re-configuring their running game and plan to use both T.J. Duckett and fullback Justin Griffith. "If it's single back, two tight ends and two wide receivers [a run-oriented formation], T.J.'s taking most of that," running backs coach Ollie Wilson told the Atlanta Journal-Consitution. "If it's a three-wide receiver package [and one tight end, a pass-oriented formation], then Justin's taking most of that." Dunn was a better pass protector and receiver than Duckett and Griffith. While Duckett has improved at both, Griffith is more advanced as a blocker, and more adept as a receiver, although he dropped a pass last Sunday at Houston.

It shouldn’t be too shocking that Duckett will give up some carries, as he's had problems moving the chains lately. Last week against the Texans, T.J. ran for only 31 yards on 12 carries. His only 100-yard rushing game of his career came in week four against the Panthers. Don't worry though, Duckett will continue as the goal line back since he’s scored in the past five games. Griffith will be used mainly as Michael Vick's safety valve on passing plays.
