We just had two teams tie in the playoffs in our league and we don't know how to decide who should advance. I'm not the commissioner but apparently we're voting on what happens. Six teams make the playoffs, so this is the matchup where the winner advances to play a team that had a bye. Here are the possible deciding factors, any thoughts? Thanks and WHIR.

1. Head to Head Record: Team A beat Team B twice during the regular season.
2. Points: Team B scored seven more points than Team A during the regular season.
3. Bench Points: Team B scored more bench points in the playoff game.
4. Let both teams advance to the next round and both play the team that had the bye. Whichever team out of the three has the highest score wins.

To me the only fair thing is a coin flip. Then you guys need to add some tiebreakers to your rules for next year. Possibly have every team pick 1 teibreaker player. Then maybe starters TDs scored.

In the leagues I have played in, the highest ranking seed advances. Since your league has no tiebreakers setup, you can't just pick one. A coin flip is only fair. Next year you need to add something to your rules.

Yep, this year with no tie breakers in place you have to flip a coin, arm wrestle, mma match ect.....For next year though, our tie breakers start with head to head, then total td's scored for that week, then total yardage for that week.

Add another vote to what everyone else said. This is why an iron-clad constitution is a must before the start of any season. Tiebreaker rules MUST be decided before the season starts. When seeding the playoffs "Points For" is the tiebreaker, and since we use fractional scoring this is usually sufficient. Our backup tiebreaker after Points For is head-to-head record. If there is a tie in an actual playoff game, then we break that tie based on whoever had the higher seed.
