Willis McGahee or Kahlil Bell--WHIR

Postby POJO_Risin » Sat Dec 24, 2011 7:52 am

On the outside looking in, McGahee vs. Bell seems like a no brainer. Willis is heading to Buffalo against a defense that gives up rushing yards by the bushel. But, Willis is coming off a hamstring injury, and even though he was in full practice all week, you have to wonder how it ends up responding in the cold of Buffalo. Still, a very enticing match-up.

But...Kahlil Bell is now THE GUY in Chicago, and he also catches passes, and in a PPR league like mine...you can't beat a guy rolling out yards on the ground, and in the air.

Who do you start? I also have Reggie Bush and Ray Rice starting, but figure those guys are untouchable at this point...with both also having good match ups.

WHIR---

12 Team Head to Head, 2 player Keeper League--WR PPR RB...the positions are fixed, I HAVE to have 2 defenses (4 RB, 4 WR, 2 QB, 2 TE, 2 Def)

QB Aaron Rodgers, GB QB
RB Ray Rice, Bal RB
RB Reggie Bush, Mia RB
RB/WR Willis McGahee, Den RB
WR Mike Wallace, Pit WR
WR Santonio Holmes WR
WR/TE Demaryius Thomas, Den WR
TE Vernon Davis, SF TE
D/ST Broncos D/ST

Bench Vincent Jackson WR
Bench Kevin Boss, Oak TE
Bench Kahlil Bell, Chi RB
Bench Giants D/ST
Bench Matt Moore, Mia QB
IR Fred Jackson, Buf RB

I go with Kahlil Bell in a PPR league for sure.

Best of luck.

Bell should get 20-25 touches. If Barber is out, there is only 1 other RB on the roster and he was just picked up last week.

Thanks for help on mine.

This is pretty even. Both RBs are on the road with Bell playing in prime time. Normally, I would tend to favor McGahee right now, because I don't trust how long Hanie will keep the football with the offense (or how far down the field he will take them). Comparisons to that logic can be made with DEN and Tebow, but I think McGahee gets a slight edge there.

BUF Rushing D: 125 YPG/9 TDs
GB Rushing D: 108 YPG/10 TDs

Fairly even except, I found this on Yahoo:
Packers give up 5th most FPG to RBs in last five weeks, including 8 catches per game to RBs

Thus, the big difference maker is the PPR. I was listening to MJD's FF radio show on XM last night and for 3 hours they kept touting Bell in PPR, but not so much in standard scoring leagues.

Roll with Bell.

Tough, tough, tough.

As others have said, I think the PPR is the difference in this one. McGahee is in a two headed monster, the second head just happens to be a QB. Bell, should get lots of touches. I don't love the matchup. But, the touches should be there. And, the PPR should make him the safer play with more upside as well.

Thanks for help on mine.

Yours is a very tough call. I was leaning towards McGahee, but I don't want to undervalue Bell's potential for PPR in the passing game. Gun to my head, I'd go with Bell.

Good luck!
