We have had a bunch of issues in my fantasy league discussing how keepers and off season trading works.
If you are in a keeper league, and you have done more than a year, what are your rules for trading during the off season. I'm asking about this time particular: What are your rules for trading players from the previous year's roster BEFORE keepers are declared.
If you all would please just spend a couple minutes explaining how your rules work, I would greatly appreciate it.
In my keeper league, rosters and free agents lock after Week 16 (our championship). Keepers are required to be submitted two weeks before our draft. There is no trading/shuffling of rosters in between those times. Once keepers are submitted, we can trade players/picks/etc. before the draft.
That being said, there are a number of different ways to manage keepers in a keeper league. Our way works for our league, but it may not be the best for a group of owners who are heavy traders.
Our league (12 team, 21 starters, 12 keepers) locks trading after week 11 and reopens it soon as the season ends. Keepers need to be submitted 2 weeks before draft. We used to stop trading til the day of the draft but we have had the same owners for 8 years now. I could see trading early, as we do, a problem if you are shuffling owners frequently. To me there is no right /wrong way to run it. You can make trades for players, picks, etc all year long. It all depends on how you want your keeper league to go, keep a player for x amount of years and lose picks, or keep him forever and lose nothing. Let your league mgrs assist in setting up the league rules. To me I'm making it as player / trade friendly as possible.
