Microwaveless

I saw this thread a few weeks ago and decided to track my microwave usage. What I've discovered is that in 3 weeks I've used my microwave for warming up a cup of coffee a that had cooled and to make popcorn twice. That's it. Really, those 3 usages in 3 weeks make it totally worth it to me. I'm not going to reheat my coffee in the oven, and I'm too lazy to make popcorn on the stove top. Haha.

Heat it on the stove , not in the oven

I have a hot air popper for popcorn - melt the butter on the stove

I've actually been wanting to get an air popper for some time now...but the laziness comes into play there as well. Haha. Speaking of popcorn.....

Passed my biggest test yet last night - BACON!!

This was really my only hurdle and we passed with flying colors. Cooked it on the stovetop and had minimal mess and it turned out very tasty

So, with that I can officially say that I am microwave-free.

Speaking of bacon, I've always been an Oscar Meyer bacon kind of guy, but I was recently introduced to Hormel and it is so freaking good.

Passed my biggest test yet last night - BACON!!

This was really my only hurdle and we passed with flying colors. Cooked it on the stovetop and had minimal mess and it turned out very tasty

So, with that I can officially say that I am microwave-free.

I've never microwaved bacon. I cook it on the stove over VERY low heat for a long time, with a splash guard over the skillet to keep things clean. Cooking low and slow renders out as much fat as possible without burning it and produces the most crispy bacon. I don't like it chewy at all.

Closer to 30, longer if it's thick sliced and/or I decide to double layer it. As I said very low heat It's not a good way to do things if in a hurry. It's the best way to make bacon for a BLT or club sandwich, hands down.
