It has been suggested that we hold the rookie draft very early post-NFL draft, but this is really a decision that needs to come down to a vote. In any case, I think the latest we should start is the beginning of June.
The interesting thing about an early draft is it rewards owners who really do their homework. We get to rely less on reports from OTAs/mini camps and it comes down to our own research. The downside is that not everyone necessarily has the time to put in the work that some of us do. Drafting involves decisions that could affect teams for several seasons, so it pays to make an informed one.
Of course, to hold an early draft we need to get everyone checked in/have replacements at the ready. I'll be attempting to contact everyone who hasn't checked in today.
