I know about Spann ONLY because I'm a Steelers fan and I receive a daily digest e-mail of news fom all Pittsburgh teams from
http://www.pittsburghsportsreport.com. I also post on Steelers message boards and occasionally read official tweets from the Steelers organization. I can't remember which source it was, but buried somewhere deep in one of those sources was the news that Spann was relased. I don't want to have to do that for 31 other NFL teams as well, which would be ridiculous. But with roster sizes so large, that's practically the only way anyone is going to find a sleeper pick.
I realize that the majority of the league is for the measure and that this is a lost cause. At the risk of being obnoxious just for the sake of it, consider that if bigger is better, then why stop at 34? Why not 45? Or how about 53 like the NFL active game day rosters?
