James Starks - Too few goal line opportunities?

Postby JimiRayThunderaxe » Wed Jun 13, 2012 5:48 am

Rotoworld has an item about Starks being the workhorse in Green Bay which sounds like come, September he could be an early 4th or even 3rd rounder.

My question is even if he is the workhorse, do you think he would be worth a pick here? I seem to remember a lot of games last year where when the did try to run it in at the goal line (which did not seem to be often) they would bring in Kuhn. Without fail.

Even if he is the "workhorse" back in a very explosive offense, I would not take him that early. I'll let another owner take a chance on him that early while I'm snatching up WRs.

3rd or 4th round is WAY too early for Starks in my opinion. In my mocks ive usually been able to get him as a RB3/Flex at around 7/8th round.

Like you said, Kuhn gets goal line carries. And on top of that, Green Bay passes so much I dont see Starks being worth a 2nd or 3rd rounder.

Can you help me with mine please? viewtopic.php?t=513359

I'm not sure I see Starks as a workhorse with Green and Saine on the roster. McCarthy really likes both these young guys, and he'll give them every chance to compete (I actually consider Green to be a bit of a sleeper). As you mentioned, Kuhn will get his carries, and kgecklund pointed out, Rodgers passed or rushed for 34 TDs last season, so I can't see Starks getting a lot of TDs.

i wouldnt touch Starks until the 8th round or later. I think he is an average RB on a team that dosen't run the ball. I think he is #3 RB at best.

Mostly agree with this... but he is a RB3 with some upside. Ryan Grant wasn't a special talent by any means but still put up low-end RB1 numbers in this offense. Admittedly, Rodgers and the passing offense has evolved into one of the best in the league since the '08-'09 "glory years" for Grant... but Starks could have a few big games here and there and provides more upside than other RBs with a similar ADP. I think he is a potential value pick in many leagues.
