Where does this put MJD in the draft picture now? I had him as my 20th overall RB before this (basically just avoiding at all costs.) I wouldn't feel comfortable with him in the early-going but is 2nd round (or even late 1st) reasonable now? Or does think have too much of a CJ2K holdout stink to even get involved?
QB- M. Vick WR- J. Jones, M. Colston RB- R. Rice, J. Charles TE- A. Hernandez FLEX- D. McFadden, F. Jackson K- G. Zuerlein DEF- Miami
B- T. Romo, J. Kerley, K. Hunter, V. Ballard, D. Thomas, B. Myers, S. Suisham

One would have to measure the probable upside vs injury risk. I can't imagine him sliding past the second round. As to any comparison between his holdout outlook and CJ4.24's, that is as hard to quantify as the Schrute Buck to Stanley Nickle ratio.

I got MJD and Jordy Nelson for Andre and BJGE a week ago banking on him coming to camp. I am thinking that week 1 he gets 5-10 carries tops, week to 10-15 and he will destroy the Colts in week 3. I would not be very comfortable drafting him in the 1st because of CJ2K nightmares, but I think at this point getting him in the second is a very good value.
Maurice Jones-Drew will be in the mix for the Jaguars' opener Sunday in Minnesota Posted: September 3, 2012 - 11:43pm By Vito Stellino
Coach Mike Mularkey is wasting no time getting Maurice Jones-Drew back into the Jaguars’ lineup.
Mularkey said that Jones-Drew, who practiced for the first time Monday since ending his 38-day holdout without getting a new contract, will play in the season opener in Minnesota on Sunday.
Although Rashad Jennings will start and Mularkey isn’t sure how many snaps Jones-Drew will get, Mularkey envisions Jones-Drew being the same workhorse back he’s been in the past for the Jaguars.
When he was asked if Jones-Drew will get most of the carries once he’s 100 percent, with Jennings complementing Jones-Drew, Mularkey said, “That’s kind of the way the system works, yes. Whoever starts, the other one will handle the third downs.”
He also said the third-down back will also give the starter a blow at times, especially on long drives.
Mularkey was asked if he thinks Jones-Drew, who jokingly said he likes to get 80 carries, will like his role in the offense.

So according to this Jennings is in for a big workload week 1. Is he a RB2 this week vs Minnesota?

A lot depends on how well the Vikes D stops the run this season. With any early success, Jenning should be a good RB2 this week. Moreso, what is also intimated is that should Jennings be effective, he will cut into MJD touches significantly. Say it ain't so.

I doubt highly that the Jags will be sitting their highest paid, proven producing running back much beyond the first game. Mojo IS Jacksonville period. They will want Gabbert to have the best possibility for success and that is with Jones-Drew. Jennings is a nice backup who has looked good in preseason. I look for him to get the lions share of touches this first week. But in those 10-12 touches Mojo gets everyone will see who is the franchise RB. I really think the guy will be out for blood this year to prove once and for all he is worth a larger contract. CJ2K isn't a very good comparision imho. CJ got his money and ran like he care less, MoJo doesn't have his big money deal and is hungry.
Honestly this can go a few different ways of course, but one scenario I can see is Jennings comes out of the gates with a blast in Week 1, MJD gets a few carries to show he still has it, and they split carries (yuck) week 2. If (and this is a BIG if no doubt) Jennings shows he really can carry the team as much as the Jags have been saying while MJD held out, if MJD shows enough in those first two weeks to promote himself and get some value (which he didn't do while playing holdout) then the Jags might trade him at that point (despite their earlier stance of "no trade" which I am sure they did as a (non)negotiating tactic).
