Agreed with all of that, we are going to see lots of steals on guys based on how much money was thrown out on guys early on.
I just checked all ... murphysm should be at 176 spent and 11stever11 should be at 126 spent (not 116) . This does not include the new purchases going off this morning and there is like 7 of them done.

What I mean by that analogy is this: just like it's easier to burn through your bankroll playing NLHE, it is easier to leave GAPING roster holes in an auction. You get caught up on high-end players at one or two positions, and you have little for other positions.
And even if you fill your starting lineup decently enough, it's tough not to have more than the minimum $1/each bid available for your bench.
i can't trust balance team and i rarely see balance team success in auction league except a team who got Newton+Gronk that carried him, which both went for less than $2 anyway.
balance team is like trying to win a league without Round 1 and Round 2, it's possible but difficult. normally i'll at least get 2 top-tier player just like how people normally get from snake. (first 2 round)
people know how important their 1st round and 2nd round pick in snake draft, that applies to auction draft too.

I agree with CS that the studs and scrubs approach is better in auction styles. We will reach a point, pretty quickly, that players start going dirt cheap. There will also be some inflated bids as guys with money fight over the last scrap at a position. I do a roto style basketball auction and balance is MUCH more important in that format, not so much in the h2h world of football.
