I'm in a 16 team PPR league that has the option of 1 keeper. I'm in a dilemma for keepers. I have Jamaal Charles, Darren McFadden, and Chris Johnson. I can try to trade these guys around and move up some in the draft, which is ideal. i.e: Trade JC, DMC, or CJ and a 3 or 4 round pick for a 2nd round pick. I'm worried about Charles' knee, McFadden's entire body, and CJ's production in general. Right now I'm most comfortable keeping CJ, but I know that it is very possible for him to suck again next year.
My question is this:
Which one of these guys should I keep, if any? Should I just enter the draft and make a first round pick?
Our roster format is this: QB RB RB WR WR TE FLEX D/ST K HC Bench Bench Bench Bench
Of the three, I like Charles the most. CJ.5k ruined himself in fantasyland as far as I'm concerned. Anyone who can let attitude affect play that way gets no respect from me. McFadden won't be there for every game.
#1- CJ - sucked last year, and isn't going to be used as much as he was in 2010, but at least nobody is going to be stealing carries from him this year, unless Ringer comes out of nowhere. #2 - DMC - going to miss games due to injury, but is electric when he plays. #3 - Charles - who knows if he'll come back strong, and even if he does, how much time does he split with Hillis (who is also bound to steal goal line carries from JC.
None of the guys come without risk, but IMO, CJ has the best chance to pay off on a gamble.
If you think Foster, Rice, McCoy, Rodgers, Calvin, or Mathews would fall to you in the draft then don't keep one. If one of these guys aren't going to be there I would keep Chris Johnson.
I'd keep Charles. I know he's coming off serious injury but man this guy is crazy good. 6.4 ypc in 2010!!!! He may not be that good going forward and it may take him a year to get back to full health but he's only 25. Hillis is a scrub.
