So here is my situation. Im in a 16 team keeper league where we keep 12 players (6 off and 6 def). I dont have a QB and these are going to be the QBs available for my upcoming pick, so who do you like and why? Thanks!
Culter, CHI Dalton. CIN Freeman, TB Palmer, OAK Ponder, MN Flynn, SEA Cassel, KC Sanchez, NYJ Weeden, CLE Fitzpatrick, BUF Smith, SF Kolb, ARZ
I drink because of the 1998 NFC championship game.
12 team big $$$ non PPR league - QB RB RB WR WR TE D K
QB: Rivers RB: Murray, Matthews, R.Bush, D. Brown WR: Julio Jones, Colston, VJax, Garcon TE: Witten, Gresham K: Kaeding DST: SEA
I think Cutler is the best of the bunch by far. Has a big arm, and Bears brought in 2 big targets at WR.
To rank the rest of them:
Freeman-brought in a bunch of new targets for him to throw to, especially VJax. Martin was brought in and he's much better at receiving than Blount Dalton- Green is a beast, but beware of the sophomore slump Palmer- came on great at the end of last year, Bush is gone, could be more reliant on passing when DMC goes down (which he always does)
Fitzpatrick- was great to start the year, play fell when he got payed, but his offense had players dropping like Rams DBs Smith- Offense brought a bunch of new guys, especially at WR Sanchez- who knows the plan with Tebow, many say he will be replaced by midseason. I'd rank him higher if i knew that wasnt true
Ponder- shows promise, but very few weapons on offense Weeden- an old rookie, not enough weapons on offense to put up flashy numbers
Flynn- looked great in very limited action, but rumors are that Wilson is impressing most of that QB group Cassel- best option at QB in KC, but that isn't saying much Kolb- this is his last year to justify that contract, but Skelton looked better at times last year
Overall Cutler is the best guy by far, I'd rank the next 3 guys in the same tier, Fitz could be in that group. I really wouldn't touch anyone in the last 2 groups.
I like cutler the best out of that group. He finally has a stud WR to throw to again and I also love the jeffrey pick. he could put up big numbers this year.
While I would put my money on Cutler as well, do not underestimate Fitzpatrick. I think he'll have his game face on this year and be someone you could pick up later and make bank.
Also, late late consider Flynn. I think he's in a good spot to do well.
I agree Cutler is definitely the choice. I'd probably rank him a QB1 if his offensive line wasn't so horrendous still and Forte wasn't on a holdout. Mike Tice has taken out all 7 step drops from the offense this offseason, that tells you how much confidence he has in the guys up front.
As it stands though he's one of my favorite QB2's (13-15 range, in the tier with Schaub/Big Ben). He is too talented of a player and adding Marshall/Jeffrey is huge.
Also I'm not crazy on Fitzpatrick. He has a very weak arm and always fades down the stretch once the winds pick up and the weather worsens, he'd be a much better QB in a dome than a place like Buffalo. I think if I draft him I'll be looking to trade him before the deadline because I think he will start out hot but it's not how you start in FF it's how you finish.
Most of that list have injury issues and at this time all of them are about equal. Cutler will probably go first but I think he isn't worth the mediocre value he has been given. Yes, he is reunited with Marshall but that is a tough completion from the trainers table.
Of those given I like Fitz and Freeman right now but it is early, very early. Palmer intrigues me and I like Dalton as well, he has the weapons but he faces tough defenses in his division.
The only ones of the group I really don't like at all are Weeden and Sanchez.
Another QB I think is vastly underrated is Hasselback in TEN if he gets the nod over Locker.
QB: BREES, Cutler RB: TURNER, MCGAHEE, R. JENNINGS, Leshoure, D. Williams, Hillman, Hunter, Dwyer WR: CRUZ, GARCON, Amendola, Edwards, D. Baldwin TE: GRAHAM
