Idividual Defensive points...what works best?

Postby Eric21ND » Wed Jul 11, 2012 8:43 pm

The current setup in my league is as follows:

Defensive Back (DB): 2
Defensive Lineman (DL): 2
Linebacker (LB): 2
Defensive Player (D): 2

Solo Tackles - 1
Assisted Tackles - 0
Sacks - 4
INT - 3
Forced Fumble - 0
Fumble recovery - 2
Defensive Touchdown - 6
Safety - 4
Block Kick - 2

Would you guys change anything? I'm mostly concerned with tackles, not sure if I should go 0.5 on Solo Tackles and 0.25 on Assisted Tackles or keep it how it is now?

Also Sacks and INT are questionable too? Ideally how many points should your defense contribute per game?

I play in two different league with IDP's, and below is how its set up. Its really all about preference to be honest. Using IDPs you really need to try and make them worth your while IMHO. In both of these leagues, one of which is a redraft, I usually wait until the last rounds to draft them. The top tackler last year was D'Qwell Jackson, with 115 tackles or 57.5 points with what you are suggesting to change. To me, its more of "just fun to have" then maybe actually producing with those type of numbers. I am slightly biased, I'm not a fan of IDP leagues even though I am involved in two leagues that do.

1 point for every Solo Tackle
2 points for every Interception
2 points for every Sack
2 points for every Fumble Forced
1 point for every Fumble Recovered
4 points for every Safety

- 1 pt/solo tackle
- 0.5 pts/assisted tackle
- 3 pts/INT
- 3 pts/sack
- 2 pt/fumble forced
- 1 pt/fumble recovered
- 4 pts/safety

I've been playing with this scoring format for many years on IDP

Tackles + Assists = 1 point for first 3(DB&LB), first 2(DL). 1 point for every 2 thereafter
Sack = 1 point for every 1/2 sack
Int = 3 points
Def TD = 6 points
Forced fumble/Fumble recovery = 1

We use 3 IDP's any position. It keeps the pool deep and injuries don't devastate your squad as much. Also easier to track for other members.

Scoring:

solo tackle=1
sack=3
td=6
ff=3
fr=3
int=3
int yards= 1/20
pass deflection=1
