Draft Night Date Set Too Early?

So in one of my leagues, the commissioner wants to hold the draft on August 4th. That's pretty much a week before the preseason even starts. I personally think it's WAY too early to have a draft. Just wanted your opinion on the situation and if I should do it or not.

That is way too early.

Typically you should want to draft towards the end of the preseason.

I remember the one year my league decided to draft prior to the preseason I took McAllister and he ended up being out for the year. It is also important to see how some of the position battles end up.

There are pros and cons and they are all weight in the overall strategy of your league.

Can you get a preseason injury on one of your studs? Sure, but drafting early also has its positives. For starters it extends the fantasy football season. Another benefit is that it creates healthy and active transactions, whether be from trades or the waiver wire. The benefit of that can sky rocket if your league charges add/drop fees for transactions

I would aim to do it in the middle of August.

wow, that is early. why not wait until late august? My guys usually get injured anwyays after I draft them
